For men - indicators of a medical condition are excessive hair growth on ears, nose, back, and upper cheeks
For women - indicators are any excessive hair growth on any area which is unusual for a female even if it's ok for a male. Commom examples are chin/upper lip - anywhere on face really - ears, anywhere on neck, chest, any thickening of hairs anywhere on the body - most commonly abs and inner thigh, but can be anywhere.
Heredity - Just because your mother or father may have had a hormonal imbalance and so do you does not make the condition now "hereditary". Heredity are such that of eye/hair color, nose shape, and such. Although a medical condition can be passed down (commonly due to psychology reasons such as parent/child attachment but we won't get into that) it remains a medical condition!
